Sammons Financial Group Marks Record Charitable Donations in 2023

West Des Moines, Iowa – January 24, 2024 – Sammons® Financial Group, Inc. expanded its local community support by donating more than $4.2 million to charitable organizations in its corporate cities throughout 2023. Additionally, employees contributed 10,000 hours in volunteer service.

“Once again we have increased our commitment throughout our communities,” said Esfand Dinshaw, chairman and chief executive officer at Sammons Financial Group. “Our employees continue to give generously with their time and money, which is a fundamental part of our purpose to empower futures and change lives in the communities where we live and work.”

As an employee-owned company, Sammons Financial Group supports a broad and diverse range of local charitable organizations tackling issues and needs its employees are passionate about. In 2023, the company supported organizations focused on diversity and inclusion, homelessness, education, hunger, children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and specialized healthcare needs.

Sammons Financial Group has corporate locations in five cities – each donating a portion of the total $4.2 million to charity. More than $500,000 went toward the company’s 2-for-1 matching gift program. A few 2023 highlights include:

  • Central Iowa: From its West Des Moines office, Sammons Financial Group donated more than $1.1 million to organizations in the community. This includes a number of charities from the Community Outreach Program, United Way, Principal Charity Classic, Special Olympics of Iowa, Bravo, ChildServe, Junior Achievement, and Single Parent Provision. Employees volunteered nearly 5,400 hours. Sammons Financial Group also has 30 employees on boards of local charitable organizations. In addition, the company announced a $3.15 million to Drake University, to be paid over three years, to support scholarships and the new Sammons Intercultural Center.
  • Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Sioux Falls-area charities received nearly $1 million, including donations made through the Community Impact Challenge. Funding went to United Way, Junior Achievement, Active Generations Forward Sioux Falls, Veterans Community Project, Forward Sioux Falls, HelpLine Center, SD Parkinson’s Foundation, EmBe, Siouxland Adaptive Sports, South Dakota Special Olympics, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. Employees also logged nearly 4,000 volunteer hours and has 20 employees serving on charitable boards.
  • Fargo, North Dakota: In Fargo, $350,000 went to key organizations, such as YWCA of Cass-Clay, Fraser LTD, Great Plains Food Bank, Legacy Children’s Foundation, and United Way of Cass Clay. Employees tallied more than 545 volunteer service hours.
  • Chicago, Illinois: Chicago-based charities received nearly $350,000 in 2023. Key partners included Marillac St. Vincent Family Services, Deborah’s Place, The Boulevard, St. Anthony Hospital, 100 Black Men of Chicago, and various charities through the Big Hearts Program.

  • Dayton, Ohio: In Dayton, employees supported 4 Paws for Ability, Agape for Youth, Child Care Choices, Learning Tree Farm, Agape for Youth, Clothes That Work, Dayton Public Schools Coat Drive, Girls on the Run, and Be Concerned.
