YWCA Cass Clay

Since 1906, YWCA Cass Clay has strived to empower women to reach their full potential. The organization initially provided first aid and English classes for immigrant women. Over the years, they’ve expanded their services to address the needs of domestic violence victims and homeless women and children in North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota. Currently, YWCA Cass Clay offers emergency shelter, supportive housing, education and employment assistance, children’s services, a registered nurse, homeless prevention, and racial justice. In the last 30 years, over 38,000 women and children have received assistance from YWCA Cass Clay.

Sammons Financial Group and YWCA Cass Clay have been community partners for nearly five years, donating over $450,000 and more than 600 volunteer hours by associates in the company’s Fargo office. Funds from the company have supported YWCA Cass Clay’s children’s services program, summer outings and field trips for kids, transportation assistance, supportive housing, shelter repairs, IT upgrades, and security enhancements.

Tammi Jo Barta, who works in Corporate Markets division, has been involved with YWCA Cass Clay since 2013. “Our Community Involvement Committee was looking for a nonprofit to support during the holidays, and we thought YWCA Cass Clay would be an ideal fit for Sammons Financial Group,” said Tammi Jo. “Their purpose of ensuring that each woman who comes to their door is provided with the tools needed to transform her life aligned well with our mission to make lives better for our policyholders, our distribution partners, our employees, and our communities.”
